Odunsi (The Engine) is a central architect of the Alté movement, a creative subculture in Nigeria that prioritizes individual expression and genre-blurring over the commercial constraints of mainstream Afrobeats. Emerging in the mid-2010s, Odunsi's sound identity is defined by a 'retro-futurist' aesthetic, heavily drawing from 80s funk, synth-pop, and 90s R&B while maintaining a rhythmic foundation rooted in African percussion.
