Oliver Ho is a pivotal figure in the UK techno scene, specifically known for bridging the gap between the minimalist 'loop' techno of the late 1990s and a more experimental, industrial-leaning aesthetic. Emerging during the height of the Birmingham sound influence, Ho established his Meta label in 1997, which became a primary vehicle for his exploration of 'tribal' techno.

This style is characterized by dense, polyrhythmic percussion and a rejection of traditional harmonic progression in favor of timbral evolution. G. Ballard, manifesting in a sound that feels both urban and claustrophobic.
