Omnium Gatherum

Omnium Gatherum is a cornerstone of the Finnish melodic death metal scene, distinguished by their 'Adult Oriented Death Metal' (AODM) aesthetic. Formed in 1996, they evolved from a raw Gothenburg-influenced sound into a highly polished, progressive entity.

The band's identity is inextricably linked to lead guitarist Markus Vanhala, whose signature melodic phrasing and use of major-key harmonies provide a stark contrast to Jukka Pelkonen's rhythmic, low-end growls. Unlike many of their Finnish contemporaries who lean into doom-laden sorrow, Omnium Gatherum emphasizes 'the light at the end of the tunnel,' utilizing shimmering synth textures and driving tempos.
