Osiris

Intricate symphonic rock that weaves traditional Arabic melodies into lush, vintage synth textures. A bridge between 70s prog ambition and Middle Eastern mysticism.

Intro

Osiris is a seminal progressive rock outfit from Bahrain, founded by brothers Mohamed and Nabil Al-Sadeqi. Emerging in the late 1970s and reaching their creative peak in the early 1980s, the band is a rare example of successful cross-cultural synthesis in the prog genre.

Their sound identity is defined by the integration of 'Canterbury scene' melodicism and symphonic structures with Arabic folk music. Critically, they are often compared to Camel due to their melodic guitar work and flute-like synth patches, but their rhythmic section is far more complex, utilizing traditional Bahraini percussion patterns. Despite their geographic isolation from the UK prog scene, they achieved international cult status among crate-diggers and prog-heads for their technical proficiency and unique harmonic language. Their career arc saw a resurgence in the late 2010s with remastered releases and new EPs, proving the timelessness of their 'East meets West' aesthetic. They remain the most significant progressive rock export from the Gulf region.
