Glossy, sun-drenched Italian dance-pop defined by shimmering sisterly harmonies. The sound of a Mediterranean summer that never quite ends.
Paola & Chiara embody the peak of Italian pop glamour, blending infectious dance-floor rhythms with a distinctly Mediterranean melodic sensibility. Their music feels like a high-definition postcard from the year 2000, filled with bright synthesizers, rhythmic acoustic guitars, and the kind of vocal chemistry that only siblings can achieve. It is music designed for movement and celebration, yet it often carries a faint, shimmering layer of nostalgia.
What truly sets them apart is their stylistic restlessness. They successfully pivoted from the earnest, guitar-driven folk-pop of their early Sanremo days to a sophisticated, international dance-pop sound that incorporated everything from Spanish flamenco flourishes to unexpected Celtic textures. Their voices often move in perfect unison or tight, breathy harmonies that cut through dense, polished production with effortless clarity.
Start with the album 'Festival' to experience their most iconic era. It captures the duo at their creative zenith, where the hooks are massive, the production is lush, and the energy is perfectly calibrated for a summer night that refuses to turn into morning.
Paola & Chiara (Italian pronunciation: [ˈpaːola e kˈkjaːra]) is an Italian pop music duo consisting of Paola and Chiara Iezzi, two sisters who were born in Milan. They are the best selling female Italian group with over 6 million records sold. Their national career began when the manager of Max Pezzali's pop band 883 saw the sisters playing in Milan and subsequently signed them to the band. The sisters' career as "Paola e Chiara" began in 1997 when they parted from 883. In 1997, the sisters won the New-Artist category for the song "Amici come prima" at the Sanremo Festival. Soon after, they released their first album. They have since released five other studio albums, incorporating shifting musical influences (such as Spanish Pop and Celtic elements) and performing in several different languages, achieving international success in 2000. In July 2013, the duo released the album Giungla, which also features rappers Razza Krasta and Moreno. Shortly after the release of the album, they announced their separation. The duo reunited in 2022 and participated in the Sanremo Festival the following year. Due to the great public acclaim, the duo released other music singles and made several appearances.
