PIG

Intro

PIG sounds like a decadent cabaret hosted in a munitions factory. Raymond Watts blends the mechanical aggression of industrial metal with a surprisingly lush, almost orchestral sense of drama. His signature baritone voice moves effortlessly from a sinister whisper to a commanding, operatic croon, making the music feel both dangerous and sophisticated. It is the sound of high-art grit, where distorted guitars meet sweeping synths and programmed rhythms that hit with surgical precision.

What sets PIG apart is the 'Lord of Lard' persona: a blend of religious iconography, sleazy double-entendres, and a deep-seated cynicism. Unlike the cold, sterile approach of some industrial peers, PIG's music is warm, fleshy, and deeply human in its flaws. There is a recurring use of gospel-style backing vocals and brass arrangements that contrast sharply against the harsh electronic textures, creating a unique sonic friction that feels like a celebration of the gutter.

For those new to the sty, 'Genuine American Monster' is the essential gateway. It captures the project at its most balanced, offering massive hooks alongside punishing industrial grooves. If you prefer something more modern and polished, 'The Diamond Sinners' showcases how Watts has refined his brand of electronic filth for the 21st century. It is music for people who want their aggression served with a side of theatrical flair.

Raymond Watts (also known by his former stage names Nainz, Nainz Watts and Ray Scaballero) is an English musician, the founding and sole member of the industrial music project PIG, sometimes written as <PIG>. Watts was a founding member and periodic collaborator of KMFDM, and has been a visible part of the industrial music scene since the early 1980s. He has toured with KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, Schaft, Schwein, and Einstürzende Neubauten.
