Pinkshift

Pinkshift emerged from the Baltimore DIY scene in 2018, quickly ascending to national prominence via the viral success of their single 'i'm gonna tell my therapist on you' in 2020. Formed by students at Johns Hopkins University, the band - led by vocalist Ashrita Kumar - represents a pivotal shift in the pop-punk landscape, moving away from the genre's historically homogenous roots toward a more inclusive and sonically diverse future.

Their sound identity is a sophisticated blend of 90s grunge (citing Nirvana) and 2000s pop-punk (No Doubt, My Chemical Romance), characterized by Kumar's powerful, classically-inflected vocals and Paul Vallejo's heavy, riff-oriented guitar work.
