Polock

Polock is a Spanish indie rock band formed in Valencia in 2006, led by songwriter Papu Sebastián. They emerged during the late-2000s indie boom, distinguishing themselves from the national 'Indie Español' scene by singing in English and adopting a sound more aligned with international acts like Phoenix or Foster The People.

Their debut LP, 'Getting Down From the Trees' (2010), received significant international acclaim, leading to tours across Europe, the US, and Japan. Sonically, the band evolved from a guitar-centric garage-pop foundation into a more sophisticated, synth-heavy aesthetic on later albums like 'Everlasting' and 'Magnetic Overload'. Their work is characterized by high production values, often collaborating with producer Hans Krüger to achieve a 'crude yet polished' finish. Critically, they are praised for their melodic sensibility and ability to blend classic rock structures with modern rhythmic cycles. They occupy a unique cultural position as one of the few Spanish indie bands to successfully export a sun-drenched, Anglo-influenced sound to a global audience.
