Intro

Polyenso sounds like a vivid dream where organic instruments and digital glitches coexist in perfect harmony. Their music is anchored by incredibly tasteful, hip-hop-influenced drumming that provides a crisp backbone for swirling layers of electric piano, muted trumpets, and breathy, multi-tracked vocals. It is music that feels expensive and meticulously crafted, yet retains a soulful, human pulse.

What truly sets them apart is their evolution from aggressive post-hardcore roots into a sound that is airy, sophisticated, and rhythmically complex. They utilize space as an instrument, allowing melodies to drift and dissipate like smoke while the rhythm section keeps things grounded. The influence of late-era Radiohead is present, but it is filtered through a bright, Floridian lens that swaps paranoia for a sense of wonder.

Start with One Big Particular Loop to hear their most adventurous, jazz-inflected arrangements, or dive into Pure in the Plastic if you prefer a more polished, synth-forward approach to art-pop. Either way, this is music designed for high-quality headphones and undivided attention.

Polyenso is an American experimental rock band based in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. The band is composed of lead vocalist and keyboardist Brennan Taulbee, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Alexander Schultz, and percussionist Denny Agosto. The band's members were all at one point in American post-hardcore band Oceana, but moved to lighter, more uplifting music under the name Polyenso in 2012. Their sound is a blend of indie rock, electronic, folk, jazz, and hip-hop. They released their debut album, One Big Particular Loop, on January 22, 2013. On October 16, 2015, the band released EP1 featuring four tracks from their upcoming second album, Pure in the Plastic. The album, released on April 1, 2016, featured a more pop-inspired sound, without the trumpet playing of their debut album. Later that year, Alternative Press named the band one of the Top 16 Bands to Watch.
