Pool is a Hamburg-based trio consisting of Daniel Husten, Nils Hansen, and David Stoltzenberg. Formed in 2011, the band quickly established a sound that bridged the gap between the DIY indie scene and the polished world of electronic dance music.
Their early EPs, 'Game Over' and 'Flex', released on the 2DIY4 label, showcased a sophisticated understanding of groove, often drawing comparisons to the 'indie-dance' movement of the early 2010s. Their debut full-length, 'Snacks & Supplies' (2015), solidified their identity: a mix of funk-driven basslines, clean ' Nile Rodgers' style guitar scratching, and airy pop vocals. Despite the confusing overlap with several other artists named Pool (including a Mexican hardcore band and a US metalcore project), the German trio has maintained a consistent trajectory toward a more refined, synth-heavy pop sound in their later releases like 'Elliot'. Critically, they are noted for their technical proficiency and their ability to maintain a 'live band' energy within highly produced, dance-oriented arrangements.
