Quantum

Quantum is the primary project of Israeli producer and DJ Gidi Snapir, a central figure in the second wave of the Israeli psychedelic trance scene. Snapir's musical journey began with a foundation in piano and an early obsession with 1980s industrial and new wave, which significantly informed the 'harder' edge of his electronic productions.

After discovering the Goa trance movement in the early 90s, he became a prolific DJ and a cultural gatekeeper, founding the influential Israeli electronic magazine Newzeek and hosting the Tranceformator radio show. His sound identity is defined by the 'Full On' style: high-tempo (typically 140-148 BPM), featuring prominent rolling basslines, melodic synth stabs, and a very high level of production polish. Throughout the 2000s, he was a mainstay on labels like MDMA and USTA, collaborating with genre titans like Alien Project and BLT. Critically, his work is respected for its technical precision and its ability to bridge the gap between the underground Goa roots and the more commercialized progressive trance of the era. His influence persists in the modern psy-scene through his continued output and his historical role in documenting the Israeli scene's evolution.
