Formed in 1991 in Berkeley, California, Rancid is a prominent American punk rock and ska punk band. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, the group helped revitalize mainstream interest in the genre throughout the mid-1990s. Throughout their career, the band has released music through labels including Hellcat, Epitaph, and Fat Wreck Chords. The current lineup features Armstrong, Freeman, Lars Frederiksen, and Branden Steineckert, following the departure of early member Brett Reed.
