Reece Mastin

High-energy Australian rock with a gritty vocal edge. Anthemic choruses and driving guitars for road trips and high-octane afternoons.

Intro

Reece Mastin delivers a punchy, high-voltage sound that bridges the gap between polished reality-TV pop and the raw energy of Australian pub rock. His music is defined by a signature raspy vocal delivery that feels both youthful and lived-in, backed by driving drum kits and thick electric guitar layers. It is the sound of a summer festival at sunset, full of sweat, volume, and uninhibited confidence.

What truly sets Mastin apart is his evolution from a teen pop-rock idol into a more seasoned, blues-influenced rock artist. While his early hits are masterclasses in radio-ready hooks and massive choruses, his later work under the MASTIN moniker leans into a grittier, more authentic rock-and-roll aesthetic. He maintains a consistent thread of vocal intensity that makes even his most commercial tracks feel like they have a heartbeat.

Start with 'Good Night' to understand the infectious energy that launched his career, then move to 'Not the Man for You' to hear the transition into a more mature, guitar-driven sound. It is a perfect catalog for anyone who misses the era of big, bold rock songs that were actually meant to be played on the radio.

Reece John Phillip Mastin (born 24 November 1994) is an English-born Australian singer and songwriter who won the third season of The X Factor Australia in 2011. Mastin subsequently signed with Sony Music Australia. His debut single "Good Night" reached number one in Australia and New Zealand and became Sony Music Australia's fastest-selling digital single. Mastin's self-titled debut album debuted at number two on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified double platinum. His second studio album Beautiful Nightmare (2012) included the hit singles "Shut Up & Kiss Me" and "Shout It Out", the latter becoming Mastin's second number-one single in Australia. "Good Night" and "Shout It Out" earned him two ARIA No. 1 Chart Awards. In 2015, Mastin parted ways with Sony and signed with independent label Social Family Records. His third studio album Change Colours was released in October 2015, and debuted at number 12. In 2018, Reece released a new EP titled Suitcase of Stories under the name MASTIN.
