Aggressive Brazilian hardcore meeting nu-metal electronics. High-energy riffs and spiritual intensity for moments that require absolute conviction.
Rodox represents a pivotal moment in Brazilian rock history, serving as the creative vehicle for Rodolfo Abrantes following his high-profile departure from the legendary band Raimundos. Formed in 2002, the project was born from Abrantes's conversion to Christianity, yet it avoided the typical tropes of contemporary Christian music (CCM) by maintaining a fierce, hardcore-influenced sound that appealed to mainstream audiences.
The band's lineup was a supergroup of sorts, featuring members from Los Hermanos and Raimundos, which ensured a high level of technical proficiency and industry interest. Their debut, Estreito, was a commercial success, bridging the gap between spiritual testimony and the aggressive nu-metal/hardcore aesthetic dominant in the early 2000s. Sonically, they integrated Bob's turntablism and electronic effects into a post-hardcore framework, creating a hybrid sound that was unique in the Brazilian market. Despite their success, internal tensions regarding the band's religious direction led to their dissolution in 2004. They remain a cult favorite for their ability to fuse heavy, secular-sounding production with overt spiritual themes without sacrificing sonic intensity.
