Rompeprop

Rompeprop is a cornerstone of the Dutch goregrind scene, specifically the 'party-groove' sub-sect. Formed in Eindhoven in 1999, they pivoted away from the hyper-speed blast beats of traditional grindcore in favor of a mid-tempo, danceable approach influenced by Gut and Impetigo.

Their sound is defined by extremely low-tuned guitars, a prominent 'pingy' snare sound, and 'vomit' vocals achieved through heavy pitch-shifting. Culturally, they occupy a space of transgressive humor, using shock-value aesthetics and samples to create a carnivalesque atmosphere. Despite the extreme nature of their sound, they achieved significant underground success in the early 2000s, touring internationally and becoming a staple of festivals like Obscene Extreme. Their evolution saw them move from the raw lo-fi of Menstrual Stomphulk to a more produced, riff-heavy style on Gargle Cummics, maintaining a consistent identity as the premier 'groove' providers of the goregrind genre.
