Ronin

Ronin is an Italian instrumental ensemble led by guitarist Bruno Dorella, a central figure in the Italian independent scene who also founded groups like OvO and Bachi da Pietra. The project is defined by a 'western-noir' aesthetic, blending the cinematic influence of Ennio Morricone with the skeletal structures of slowcore and post-rock.

Their sound identity is built on clean, highly reverberated guitar lines, a minimalist rhythm section, and occasional brass flourishes that evoke a sense of desolate, high-stakes drama. Throughout their career, spanning from the early 2000s to the late 2010s, they have moved from more traditional post-rock explorations into a highly stylized, almost theatrical form of instrumental storytelling. Critically, they are praised for their restraint and their ability to evoke specific visual landscapes, often being compared to the work of Calexico or Dirty Three.
