Salò

Salò is a Glasgow-based post-hardcore trio formed in 2010, consisting of Paul McArthur, Wes McCallum, and Sam Massey. The group emerged from the ashes of several critically successful local acts with the specific intent of exploring more visceral and experimental sonic territories.

Their sound is heavily indebted to the 1990s Dischord Records aesthetic and the angular noise rock of the Touch and Go roster, specifically citing Fugazi, The Jesus Lizard, and Polvo as foundational influences. Culturally, they occupy a space between the aggressive DIY punk scene and the more cerebral art-rock community, often incorporating references to Philip K. Dick and David Lynch into their thematic framework. A defining characteristic of their identity is the absence of a lead singer; vocal duties are shared equally among all three members, creating a polyphonic and unpredictable texture.
