Intro

Sergent Garcia delivers a high-energy explosion of sound that he famously dubbed 'salsamuffin.' It is a vivid, technicolor collision where the sharp, syncopated horns of salsa meet the heavy, vibrating low-end of reggae and dancehall. The music feels like a crowded street festival in full swing, characterized by organic percussion, bright brass flourishes, and a rhythmic drive that refuses to let the listener stand still.

What truly sets this project apart is the seamless integration of disparate cultural identities. Bruno Garcia brings a gritty, punk-influenced charisma to his vocal delivery, alternating between melodic crooning and rapid-fire raggamuffin toasting. The production manages to sound both meticulously arranged and wildly spontaneous, capturing the heat of a live Latin orchestra while maintaining the structural discipline of European pop-rock.

For those new to the sound, 'Un poquito quema'o' or 'Adelita' serve as the perfect entry points. These tracks showcase the artist at his most infectious, blending Spanish and French lyrics over grooves that feel equally at home in a Parisian club or a Havana plaza. It is essential listening for anyone who finds the intersection of global rhythms and urban energy irresistible.

Sergent Garcia is the band formed around French singer Bruno Garcia (1964, France) who had previously been the guitarist of punk band Ludwig Von 88. Sergent Garcia’s music is a mixture of cumbia, reggae, salsa, ragamuffin, rock and other trends in a new style which he defines as salsamuffin. He published in 2011 his sixth studio album, Una y otra vez (Cumbancha/The Gwagwita), recorded between France, Spain, Cuba and Colombia. In 2023, he released a single, entitled “¡Cuando Salga El Sol!”, accompanied by a video in 2024. Also in 2024, he embarked on a tour, entitled the “Salsamuffin Tour” to celebrate 25 years as a solo artist.
