Shakedown

Shakedown is the Swiss electronic project of brothers Stephan Mandrax and Sebastien Kohler (Seb K), formed in 1999. The duo represents a unique intersection of European dance traditions, blending Mandrax's experience in the New York house scene (Liquid Groove) with Seb K's background in sound engineering and experimental drum 'n' bass.

Their sound identity is characterized by 'modified disco,' a style that utilizes filtered loops, warm analog synthesis, and high-production values typical of the 'French Touch' era. Their 2002 single 'At Night' remains a foundational text of 21st-century house music, achieving significant commercial success in the UK and across Europe.
