Shapednoise

Shapednoise is the primary alias of Sicilian-born, Berlin-based producer Nino Pedone. Since his debut in the early 2010s, Pedone has become a central figure in the 'deconstructed' or 'experimental' club scene, bridging the gap between academic noise and the visceral energy of the hardcore continuum.

His sound identity is defined by extreme compression, metallic frequency manipulation, and a 'sculptural' approach to sound design where distortion is treated as a physical material. Pedone's career arc shows a steady evolution from the murky dark ambient and drone of his early Opal Tapes releases toward a more aggressive, high-definition fusion of industrial techno and experimental rap. His 2023 album 'Absurd Matter' marked a significant cultural shift, integrating prominent vocalists into his abrasive soundscapes and solidifying his position as a bridge between the noise underground and the avant-garde hip-hop community. Critically, he is regarded as a master of texture, often compared to artists like Russell Haswell for his technical rigor and JK Flesh for his industrial weight. He also co-founded the influential Cosmo Rhythmatic label, further cementing his role as a curator of challenging electronic music.
