Sick Tamburo emerged in 2007 as a spiritual and literal successor to the influential Italian punk band Prozac+, founded by Gian Maria Accusani and the late Elisabetta Imelio. Adopting a masked stage identity, the group moved away from the bright pop-punk of their predecessor toward a darker, more experimental 'electropunk' sound.
Their identity is defined by a 'less is more' philosophy, utilizing repetitive guitar motifs and minimalist rhythmic structures that lean into post-punk and industrial influences. Throughout their career, they have navigated a complex arc from the aggressive grit of their self-titled debut to the more melodic but emotionally heavy themes of 'Paura e l'amore' and 'Un giorno nuovo.'
