Simple Kid

Simple Kid, the moniker of Cork-born artist Ciaran McFeely, emerged in the early 2000s as a singular voice in the Irish indie scene. Following the dissolution of his band The Young Offenders, McFeely retreated to a solo setup characterized by a rigorous DIY ethic.

His signature sound is built on a foundation of 8-track cassette recordings, which are then imported into a computer for digital manipulation. This process yields a 'folk-trance' aesthetic that bridges the gap between Beck's early lo-fi experiments and the sample-driven pop of Fatboy Slim. His debut album, '1', received significant critical acclaim for its ability to blend glam-rock swagger with vulnerable singer-songwriter tropes.
