Skyphone is a Danish electronic trio formed in 1999, consisting of Keld Dam Schmidt, Thomas Holst, and Mads Boedker. Emerging from a background in 1990s rock, the group transitioned into electronica by repurposing outdated hardware and early digital samplers.
Their sound identity is defined by a tension between melodic 'pop' sensibilities and a 'failure-ridden' aesthetic, often associated with the glitch and clicks-and-cuts movements of the early 2000s. Signed to the prestigious Norwegian label Rune Grammofon, they occupy a space between avant-garde jazz textures and ambient electronica.
