Slam

Slam, the duo of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle, are foundational figures in the global techno landscape and the primary architects of the Glasgow electronic scene. Since forming in the early 90s, they have maintained a consistent presence through their Soma Quality Recordings label, which famously discovered Daft Punk.

Their sound identity is rooted in a high-energy, 'Slam-style' techno: a blend of driving 4/4 kicks, industrial-leaning percussion, and atmospheric synth work that bridges the gap between Detroit's soul and Europe's mechanical rigor. Over three decades, their career has evolved from the house-inflected grooves of 'Positive Education' to the darker, more minimalist and modular-heavy techno of their recent 'Paragraph' and 'Soma' releases.
