Formed in San Jose in 1990, Sleep is a seminal American doom and stoner metal band. Anchored by constant members Al Cisneros and Matt Pike, the group gained significant recognition with their 1992 release, Sleep's Holy Mountain. Despite internal label conflicts leading to a late-nineties breakup, their discography remains highly influential. Since reuniting in 2009, the band has performed internationally, maintaining their status as pioneers of the stoner metal genre.
