Slick Shoes

Slick Shoes emerged from the Antelope Valley, California scene in 1994, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the Tooth & Nail Records roster. Their sound is a high-fidelity evolution of the skate punk movement, heavily influenced by the Descendents and Lagwagon.

A defining moment in their career was the 2000 album 'Wake Up Screaming', produced by Bill Stevenson (Descendents/Black Flag), which solidified their reputation for technical proficiency and melodic hooks. Despite numerous lineup changes, the core duo of Ryan Kepke and Joe Nixon maintained a consistent sonic identity characterized by rapid-fire drumming and harmonized vocals. Historically, they were pivotal in bridging the gap between the Christian punk subculture and the secular Vans Warped Tour circuit, touring with acts like Face to Face and MxPx. Their influence persists in the pop-punk canon, noted by Loudwire as creators of one of the genre's greatest albums. Their later work on SideOneDummy Records showed a shift toward a broader alternative rock palette while retaining their signature speed.
