Intro

Soft Circle sounds like a ritual performed in a modern art gallery. It is music built from the ground up, starting with a single percussive thud or a jagged guitar phrase that slowly multiplies into a dense, vibrating wall of sound. There is a physical, tactile quality to the rhythms that feels both ancient and futuristic, like a drum circle happening inside a computer processor.

What makes Hisham Bharoocha's project distinctive is the way he bridges the gap between the raw aggression of noise rock and the meditative stillness of ambient drone. Unlike many solo loop artists who feel static, Soft Circle maintains a restless, breathing energy. The vocals aren't used for storytelling but as another layer of percussion, chanting and echoing until they become part of the instrumental texture.

Start with the album Full Bloom. It perfectly captures the project's essence: a solo performer using every limb to create a massive, enveloping soundscape. It is the ideal entry point for anyone who loves the rhythmic complexity of Boredoms or the experimental textures of early Animal Collective but wants something more focused and singular.

Soft Circle is the project of New York City based musician Hisham Bharoocha. His debut album, Full Bloom, was released January 23, 2007, on the Eastern Developments Music record label. His sound is characterized by looped guitar riffs, drums, and repeated vocals. In 2009 Ben Vida (formerly of Town & Country) joined Soft Circle. The duo released an album entitled "Shore Obsessed" on November 6, 2010. Hisham Bharoocha is active on the social media platform Instagram as “Soft Circle” *(10/25/18)
