Sonic Death is a seminal project in the Russian independent music scene, formed by Arseniy Morozov following the dissolution of his influential lo-fi outfit Padla Bear Outfit. Based in St.
Petersburg, the band became a cornerstone of the 'new Russian wave' in the early 2010s, moving away from the indie-folk leanings of Morozov's earlier work toward a more aggressive, garage-punk and noise-rock sound. Their identity is defined by a 'Home Punk' philosophy, prioritizing raw emotional output and lo-fi production over technical perfection. Throughout the 2010s, they evolved from a duo into a more expansive lineup, incorporating elements of gothic rock, heavy metal, and psychedelic pop, as seen on albums like 'Hate Machine' and 'Gothika'.
