Spektrum

Spektrum is a London-based four-piece collective that emerged in the early 2000s as a pivotal bridge between the live band circuit and the underground house scene. Founded by Gabriel Olegavich and featuring the distinctive vocals of Lola Olafisoye, the group gained international prominence through their association with the influential German label Playhouse.

Their sound identity is defined by a high-tension blend of live funk instrumentation, particularly the Maori-influenced rhythm section of Isaac Tucker and Teia Williams, and avant-garde electronic processing. Their 2004 debut, 'Enter the Spektrum', was a critical success, spawning the hit 'Kinda New', which later topped the UK Dance Charts via a Dirty South remix. Culturally, they represent the 'electro-clash' adjacent movement that valued irony, theatricality, and live performance within dance music.
