Steel Panther

Steel Panther is a comedic glam metal entity that emerged from the Los Angeles 'Metal Skool' residency to become a global touring force. Led by Michael Starr (Ralph Saenz) and guitarist Satchel, the band operates as a high-fidelity parody of 1980s hair metal tropes.

Musically, they are characterized by exceptional technical proficiency, particularly Satchel's Van Halen-inspired shredding and Starr's multi-octave vocal range which mimics the greats of the era like David Lee Roth and Vince Neil. Their career arc saw them transition from a popular cover act on the Sunset Strip to a chart-topping original band that successfully exported the '80s aesthetic to a new generation. Critically, they are viewed as a double-edged sword: praised for their authentic recreation of the genre's sonic hallmarks while frequently scrutinized for their deliberately offensive and profane lyrical content.
