Straight Lines

Formed in Pontypridd, Wales, in 2009, Straight Lines emerged from the same fertile South Wales scene that produced bands like Funeral for a Friend and Kids in Glass Houses. Founded by Dane Campbell and Tom Jenkins, the band distinguished themselves through an unusually disciplined DIY approach.

They famously wrote, recorded, and mastered their debut album, 'Persistence In This Game', in a home garage studio before their first live performance. This self-sufficiency caught the attention of Xtra Mile Recordings, a label known for fostering earnest, high-integrity acts like Frank Turner and Reuben. Their sound is a sophisticated blend of alternative rock, pop-punk, and what critics often call 'modern AOR', characterized by technical proficiency and massive, melodic hooks. Throughout the early 2010s, they became a staple of the UK touring circuit, supporting legends like Motörhead and appearing at SXSW. Critically, they are praised for avoiding the generic pitfalls of 'mall emo' by maintaining a rugged, guitar-driven edge and a distinctly British lyrical perspective. Their work represents a bridge between the raw energy of the 2000s post-hardcore scene and the more polished, radio-ready alternative rock of the 2010s.
