Sun Dial

Sun Dial, led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Gary Ramon, emerged in 1990 as a pivotal force in the UK's neo-psychedelic revival. Arriving just as the Madchester scene and shoegaze were beginning to converge, Sun Dial offered a more direct lineage to 1960s acid rock and 1970s space rock than many of their peers.

Their debut, Other Way Out, became an underground sensation, praised for its authentic use of vintage textures and heavy fuzz. Ramon's background in the project Modern Art informed a DIY, independent ethos that saw the band releasing limited vinyl runs and navigating the fringe of the mainstream. Throughout the 1990s, the band's sound evolved to incorporate elements of stoner rock and ambient electronics, particularly on albums like Acid Yantra. Ramon's influence extends beyond his own recordings; his Acme label and production work have preserved a specific strain of British psychedelia.
