Surfing (stylized as S U R F I N G) is an Australian electronic duo consisting of Penny and Leroy, who became central figures in the early 2010s vaporwave and hypnagogic pop movements. Their 2012 masterpiece, 'Deep Fantasy,' is widely considered one of the most influential albums in the genre, moving away from the plunderphonics of 'Floral Shoppe' toward a more cohesive, atmospheric, and 'slushy' production style.

Their sound identity is built on the manipulation of 1980s pop and R&B aesthetics, utilizing extreme reverb, pitch-shifting, and bit-crushing to create a sense of 'hauntology' or digital decay. Unlike many contemporaries who focused on corporate satire, Surfing emphasized a sensual, melancholic, and nocturnal mood. Over their career, they have evolved from sample-heavy origins toward more original compositions on albums like 'Emotion' and 'Chrome,' incorporating live instrumentation and clearer vocal performances while maintaining their signature hazy atmosphere.
