Taburete

Taburete emerged in 2015 as a phenomenon in the Spanish music scene, led by Guillermo 'Willy' Bárcenas and Antón Carreño. Initially gaining traction through social media and word-of-mouth among younger demographics in Madrid, they quickly transcended their 'pijo' (preppy) associations to become a mainstream powerhouse.

Their sound is a hybrid of Spanish pop rock, indie-pop, and 'ranchera' influences, characterized by acoustic guitar foundations and Bárcenas' signature gravelly vocal delivery. Their early work, particularly 'Tres tequilas y un mezcal', established a template of nostalgic, singalong-friendly anthems that resonated with a generation seeking organic alternatives to reggaeton. Over time, their production has matured, incorporating more complex arrangements and diverse instrumentation, as seen in 'Madame Ayahuasca' and 'Matadero 5'. Despite political controversies surrounding the members' families, the band has maintained a massive, loyal following, consistently selling out arenas and headlining major festivals across Spain and Latin America. They represent a revival of the 'banda' format in Spanish pop, emphasizing live instrumentation and collective experience over digital production.
