High-octane bass music that hits like a physical weight. Aggressive dubstep and drumstep designed for maximum impact in the gym or on the festival mainstage.
Terravita is a Boston-based electronic project that became a cornerstone of the North American bass music scene during the dubstep boom of the 2010s. Originally formed as a trio including Chris Barlow, Jon Spero, and Matt Simmers (Woofax), the group evolved from a drum and bass foundation into a multi-genre powerhouse.
Their early work on Technique Recordings established their technical credentials in the DnB world, but their move to Rottun Recordings marked their ascent in the dubstep hierarchy. The members also operated as Hot Pink Delorean, an electro-house outfit, which informed the groove and dancefloor sensibility of their heavier Terravita output. Critically, they are recognized for their 'drumstep' innovations, blending the 170 BPM energy of DnB with the rhythmic structure of dubstep. Following Simmers' departure in 2016, the remaining duo continued to refine a maximalist production style characterized by industrial textures and aggressive vocal integration. They remain a significant influence on the 'brostep' and heavy bass subgenres, bridging the gap between UK-rooted sound design and American festival energy.
