Thanatos

Thanatos (Italy) is a seminal darkwave and gothic rock project formed in 1986, distinct from the more famous Dutch death metal band of the same name. Their sound identity is defined by a 'coldwave' aesthetic, characterized by minimalist electronic percussion, prominent melodic bass, and a somber vocal approach.

Emerging from the fertile Italian dark alternative scene of the late 80s and early 90s, they leaned heavily into the 'Poeti Maledetti' (Cursed Poets) influence, often incorporating high-concept literary themes into their work.
