The Blood of Heroes

Heavyweight industrial dub that hits like a slow-motion wrecking ball. Dense breakbeats and metal textures for dark rooms and deep focus.

Intro

This is the sound of a city breathing through a respirator. It is thick, humid, and heavy, blending the punishing low-end of dub with the frantic, splintered energy of breakcore. The guitars don't play riffs so much as they provide a jagged, metallic atmosphere that hangs over the rhythm section like a threat. It feels like the natural evolution of the '90s Illbient scene, updated with modern production muscle.

What truly sets this project apart is the pedigree of its members. You can hear the DNA of Godflesh in the crushing weight, the influence of Bill Laswell in the elastic basslines, and the chaotic precision of Enduser in the drum programming. It is a collaborative effort where no single voice dominates, resulting in a sound that is more like a shifting weather system than a traditional band.

Start with their self-titled debut to hear the blueprint being drawn. It captures that specific moment where heavy metal and electronic sub-cultures collided in Brooklyn, creating something that is both physically exhausting and intellectually rewarding. It is perfect for when you want music that occupies every inch of the room.

The Blood of Heroes is a Brooklyn-based drum and bass/metal music project started in 2009. The first incarnation consisted of Submerged, Justin Broadrick, Dr. Israel, Enduser, Mark Gregor Filip, Balázs Pándi, and Bill Laswell. KJ Sawka, Jason Selden, and Tony Maimone have also contributed significantly to the project. As of 2026, they have released three studio albums—The Blood of Heroes (2010), The Waking Nightmare (2012), and Nine Cities (2023); and one remix album, Remain (2010), all via Ohm Resistance.
