Lush, melodic indie rock with a cinematic late-night pulse. Perfectly balanced vocal harmonies and warm synths for city drives and wistful reflection.
The Dig sounds like the intersection of classic 60s pop craftsmanship and modern New York indie cool. Their music is defined by a rich, velvety texture where shimmering guitars and thick, melodic basslines create a bed for some of the most effortless vocal harmonies in contemporary rock. It is music that feels lived-in and deeply intentional, carrying a certain nocturnal elegance that makes every track feel like a scene from an indie film.
What truly sets them apart is their dual-frontman dynamic, which allows for a constant shifting of perspectives and vocal textures. They avoid the jagged edges of typical garage rock in favor of a sophisticated, almost baroque approach to arrangement. You will hear echoes of psychedelic pop, but it is always anchored by a tight, rhythmic groove that keeps the songs from drifting too far into the ether.
Start with the album Bloodshot Tokyo to hear them at their most vibrant and polished. It captures their ability to write massive, infectious hooks without sacrificing the moody, atmospheric depth that has defined their career. From there, explore their earlier work like Midnight Flowers for a slightly darker, more guitar-driven experience.
The Dig is an American rock band based in New York City, consisting of Emile Mosseri (bass/vocals), David Baldwin (guitar/vocals), Erick Eiser (keyboards/guitar), and Mark Demiglio (drums). They later released Midnight Flowers in 2012, and two EPs, Tired Hearts and You & I in 2013 all under the label Buffalo Jump. Finally, in 2017 they released their last album, Bloodshot Tokyo and in 2018 they released their final two EPs, Moonlight Baby/Afternoon with Caroline.
