Gritty, one-man-band blues that feels like a noir film set in a dive bar. Raw guitar stomps and raspy vocals for late-night drives and dark moods.
The Legendary Tigerman sounds like the ghost of a Delta bluesman reincarnated in a 1970s punk club. It is music built on the skeletal frame of a one-man band: a thumping kick drum, a distorted guitar, and a harmonica that screams as much as it sings. There is a thick layer of cinematic grime over everything, evoking images of smoke-filled rooms and rain-washed city streets.
What makes Paulo Furtado distinctive is his ability to make minimalism feel massive. He takes the primitive energy of early rock and roll and psychobilly and strips it down to its most dangerous essentials. His collaborations, particularly on the 'Femina' album, add a layer of sophisticated, dark pop glamour to the grit, proving he can be both a rough-edged performer and a meticulous curator of atmosphere.
Start with 'Femina' to hear his sound expanded through incredible guest vocals, then dive into 'Naked Blues' for the pure, unadulterated experience of his one-man-band roots. It is the perfect soundtrack for when you want to feel a little bit dangerous and a lot more cool.
