The Longshot is a rock side project formed in 2018 by Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, alongside Jeff Matika and Kevin Preston. The band represents a departure from the grandiosity of Armstrong's stadium-rock output, focusing instead on a stripped-back, garage-influenced sound that blends power-pop melodies with punk rock urgency.
Their debut album, Love Is for Losers, was released alongside several EPs in a prolific burst of activity, showcasing a sound heavily influenced by the Replacements, the Ramones, and 60s beat music.
