Sleazy, synth-drenched glam rock that feels like a space-age cabaret. A high-energy collision of psychedelic grit and satirical storytelling for the restless.
The Moonlandingz sound like a fever dream where 1970s glam rock crashed into a Sheffield synth workshop. It is music that is simultaneously high-concept and low-brow, pairing driving motorik rhythms with greasy guitar riffs and analog oscillators that buzz like angry hornets. There is a sense of theatrical menace throughout, as if the band is performing in character from a slightly dangerous, alternate-reality variety show.
What truly sets them apart is the friction between their two founding halves: the avant-garde electronic precision of The Eccentronic Research Council and the chaotic, visceral punk energy of Fat White Family. This creates a sound that is incredibly danceable but fundamentally unstable. The vocals range from suave, Bowie-esque crooning to frantic, unhinged shouting, all wrapped in a production style that feels both expensive and wonderfully filthy.
Start with 'Interplanetary Class Classics' to hear the full realization of their fictional-turned-real world. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who likes their pop music with a side of satire and a heavy dose of psychedelic weirdness. It is the sound of a band having far too much fun while the world burns outside.
The Moonlandingz are an English rock band, formed in 2015. The band consists of Eccentronic Research Council duo Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer, along with Fat White Family members Saul Adamczewski and Lias Kaci Saoudi. The band was originally designed as a concept act for the Eccentronic Research Council's fifth album Johnny Rocket, Narcissist and Music Machine…I'm Your Biggest Fan, with the act's charismatic and otherworldly frontman Johnny Rocket being played by Saoudi. Since the release of Johnny Rocket, Narcissist and Music Machine…I'm Your Biggest Fan in 2015, the group have continued to play live and record together, releasing two EPs under The Moonlandingz name and a full-length album - Interplanetary Class Classics in 2017.
