The Plot in You, led by the creative vision of Landon Tewers, has undergone one of the most successful sonic evolutions in modern metalcore. Originally emerging from the Ohio scene as a more traditional, aggressive deathcore-adjacent project with 'First Born', the band gradually shed the constraints of the genre.

By the release of 'Happiness in Self Destruction' (2015), they began incorporating elements of post-hardcore and alternative rock, marked by Tewers' increasingly versatile vocal range and a willingness to explore themes of addiction and self-loathing with brutal transparency. Their signing to Fearless Records and the release of 'Dispose' (2018) signaled a shift toward a more 'active rock' and cinematic sound, utilizing electronic textures and pop-sensible structures without sacrificing their inherent grit. Critically, they are praised for avoiding the 'radio-rock' trap by maintaining a dark, experimental edge. They occupy a unique space alongside peers like Bad Omens and Bring Me The Horizon, serving as a bridge between the visceral energy of hardcore and the atmospheric depth of alternative metal.
