Bright, whimsical indie rock with a vintage heart. Shimmering harmonies and sun-drenched melodies for long afternoons and road trips through the countryside.
The Seasons are a Quebec City-based indie rock outfit centered around brothers Hubert and Julien Chiasson. Emerging in the early 2010s, they quickly distinguished themselves within the Canadian music landscape through a sound that heavily references the melodic sophistication of 1960s baroque pop and British Invasion aesthetics.
Their 2014 debut full-length, 'Pulp', remains their most significant cultural contribution, earning critical praise for its lush arrangements and the brothers' intricate vocal harmonies. The band's sound identity is characterized by a mix of acoustic warmth and theatrical art-pop sensibilities, often incorporating piano, woodwinds, and vintage synth textures. Hubert Lenoir, one of the founding brothers, later transitioned into a highly successful and provocative solo career, which has retroactively cast The Seasons as a foundational project for modern Quebecois glam and art-rock. Critically, they are viewed as masters of the 'sunshine-pop' revival, though their later work like 'Midnight, Let's Get a Hot-Dog' showed a move toward more experimental, eclectic structures. They occupy a unique space between the folk-rock tradition and the avant-garde pop scene of Montreal.
