The Spring Standards are a New York-based trio consisting of James Cleare, Heather Robb, and James Smith. Formed in the late 2000s out of the remnants of their previous project, Old Springs Pike, the band carved out a niche in the indie-folk boom of the early 2010s.
Their sound identity is defined by a 'power-trio' approach to folk rock, where every member is a multi-instrumentalist and a lead-capable vocalist. Critically, they are noted for their 'CSN-worthy' harmonies and a rhythmic intensity that borders on punk energy, despite their acoustic foundations.
