Torture Squad

Torture Squad is a cornerstone of the Brazilian extreme metal scene, emerging from São Paulo in 1990. While they share a lineage with pioneers like Sepultura, they carved out a distinct niche by leaning heavily into the 'death-thrash' hybrid.

Their career trajectory is marked by a relentless work ethic and a reputation for high-intensity live performances, culminating in their 2007 victory at the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle. This win solidified their international standing and led to significant European exposure. Musically, the band has evolved from the raw, primitive sounds of 'Shivering' to the sophisticated, groove-oriented technicality of 'Hellbound' and 'Far Beyond Existence.' A significant shift occurred in the 2010s with the transition to female vocals (Mayara Puertas), which added a new layer of textural aggression and melodic range to their established sound.
