Turzi

Hypnotic motorik rhythms meet gritty analog synths. A disciplined, modern take on krautrock that feels like a high-speed chase through a neon-lit desert.

Intro

Turzi sounds like the mechanical heartbeat of a city that never sleeps, filtered through the lens of 1970s experimentalism. It is music built on the concept of 'rock disciplinaire', where repetition is not a lack of ideas but a weapon of immersion. The drums lock into a relentless motorik groove while vintage synthesizers and jagged guitars weave patterns that are simultaneously cold and deeply psychedelic.

What sets them apart is the sheer architectural precision of their sound. Unlike many psych-rock bands that drift into aimless jamming, Turzi maintains a tight, almost claustrophobic control over their arrangements. Every oscillation and guitar scratch feels intentional, contributing to a sense of forward motion that is both exhilarating and slightly menacing. It is the sound of a band obsessed with the geometry of rhythm.

Start with the album 'A' for the purest distillation of their hypnotic approach. If you want something with a slightly more cinematic and collaborative edge, 'B' features guest vocals that add a human layer to their machine-like precision. It is the perfect soundtrack for moments that require intense focus or a steady, driving energy.

Turzi is a French electronic group formed by Romain Turzi in Versailles. Their track "Afghanistan" appeared on the 2nd Amorphous Androgynous compilation, alongside other acts such as Oasis and Faust. Their 2nd album B featured guest vocals from Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie on the track "Baltimore". "Baltimore" was featured in two episodes of CSI: Miami (904, 911).
