Ungdomskulen is a seminal power trio from Bergen, Norway, that emerged in the early 2000s as a central fixture of the city's vibrant 'Bergen Wave' scene. Originally performing under various names like Standing Ovation, the band solidified their identity as Ungdomskulen (Norwegian for 'Junior High School') around 2000.

Their sound is a complex synthesis of disparate influences, most notably the rhythmic precision of The Minutemen, the experimental prog-rock of King Crimson and Frank Zappa, and the aggressive post-punk of Fugazi and The Jesus Lizard. This blend earned them significant international critical acclaim, particularly for their 2007 debut 'Cry-Baby', which was championed by Pitchfork and major UK music press. The band is led by guitarist/vocalist Kristian Stockhaus, whose manic delivery and technical proficiency define their aesthetic.
