Linda (Svetlana Geyman) is a foundational figure in Russian alternative pop, emerging in the mid-1990s as a radical departure from the era's bubblegum pop. Her collaboration with producer Maxim Fadeev resulted in a trilogy of albums - 'Songs of Tibetan Lamas', 'Vorona', and 'Placenta' - that redefined the commercial potential of trip-hop and experimental electronic music in Eastern Europe.
'Vorona' (1996) remains a cultural touchstone, blending Bristol-school trip-hop influences with ethnic percussion and gothic imagery. Her career arc is marked by constant sonic reinvention, moving from the 'ethnic-electronic' debut into darker industrial territories and eventually toward guitar-driven alternative rock in the 2000s. Critically, she is viewed as a pioneer who brought avant-garde sensibilities to the mainstream. Her influence is visible in the moody, atmospheric pop of later Russian artists like Zemfira and Total. Despite various label shifts and a period of Greek-influenced experimentation with Stefanos Korkolis, her legacy is tied to her role as the 'dark priestess' of the 90s Russian underground.
