Сруб (Srub), led by Igor Shapransky in Novosibirsk, is a pivotal project in the 'Russian Wave' of post-punk, distinguished by its infusion of Slavic paganism and dark folk elements. Emerging in the early 2010s, the band moved beyond the influence of acts like Motorama or Utro by grounding their sound in the 'Siberian' experience.

Their sound identity is defined by a monolithic baritone vocal style, driving basslines, and a production aesthetic that favors 'murky' and 'forest-like' textures over the 'crystalline' or 'metallic' sounds of Western coldwave. Critically, they are viewed as a bridge between the nihilism of post-punk and the atmospheric intensity of black metal, though they rarely use traditional metal instrumentation.
