Minamotoya, also known as Kazuma Teramoto, is a foundational figure in the Japanese UK Hardcore and J-Core scenes. Emerging as a core member of the influential HARDCORE TANO*C collective in 2005, he helped define the 'Happy Hardcore' sound of the late 2000s and early 2010s.
His work is notable for its 'Minamotrance' style, which integrates the melodic structures and atmospheric depth of trance into the high-BPM framework of hardcore. This hybrid approach allowed him to bridge the gap between club-focused dance music and the burgeoning rhythm game culture in Japan. Under the alias KazuP, he was also a significant contributor to the early Vocaloid movement, with his tracks appearing in SEGA's Project DIVA series. Although his output slowed significantly after 2016, his influence persists through his label Minamotrance and his legacy as a 'perfect attendance' member of the Hardcore Syndrome compilation series. His sound is a critical link between the European rave traditions and the hyper-kinetic, melody-focused electronic music unique to Japanese subcultures.
